Why Do You Not Understand Me

Me: Okay, well, I'll check the prices at Joann's when I go, but I'm not promising anything.
Person: Ohmygawd! Thank you so much for doing this for me! I really appreciate it! Can it be done by June 29th?
Me: Eheh ^^; Okay, well, here's a list of materials according to this pattern -link-. (insert list of fabric/trim/etc with prices). So the total comes to exactly $60 for materials. Since it's simple, and I've made one before, and it shouldn't take long, how about I give you a deal and say only $20 for the work payment?
Person: If the material is $60, why would you only charge $20? And how are you going to get it to me? Anyway, yea, anything between $20-45 is fine by me!
Me: I think you don't understand. You pay me for materials, I get the materials and make the costume, then you pay me for my time, and I send you the costume. So, materials+time in this case are 60+20=80. Which is $30 less than the sale price of what you were looking at, and 60 off the original price still.
My brain: Why did she not understand that to begin with? Who seriously would make a costume for less than the cost of materials? I know that I expect a lot from people sometimes, but that's ridiculous!

Detour 2012
Detour 2012 was so amazing! I was the most impressed by the way that registration made the line move so quickly! I remember being in a much shorter line a few years back at Detour, and it took us almost 2 hours to get our badges rather than 30-45 minutes. Very good job, they did!
