Magic The Corsetry by ~Fiendish-Thingie

Yea I’ve already posted this, but now I’m posting the dA version.

Apparently I haven’t posted the “done” photos of my dress on Tumblr.  I’m not posting this particular photo on deviantArt because I did not take it. The wonderful Peter Varrant took it at the cosplay competition. I still need to go down to my mom’s studio so that she can take some good pictures of it.

Here is the layout of my Magic the Gathering corset that I will wear at Goth Prom. Don’t worry, I just used common cards because they were 50 for $1 at the card shop, and I don’t know MTG well enough to already have cards in mind. Some of them are already taped together now, but Chris is really just making it. XD He’s way better at it and when he’s working on it, he doesn’t let me near it. There wouldn’t be room for me to help anyway. I’m going to make a bustle skirt to go with it, but I don’t know what colors to use. Probably black with red lace actually since the cards are red and black. I tried to “pair” the cards on either side so that they were similarly colored and at least kind of symmetrical (as in, not facing the same way/both main things are in the middle of the card/etc).

Oops: I accidentally left out two cards out. The top two rows will have two middle cards in the back.

I am going to post my list of Gen 2 and 3 cards that I do not have and need for my dresses. If you have any of these and are willing to DONATE them (note the emphasized word), send me an ask or reblog this or something. I don’t know. Either way. If you are going to Detour next year, I will make you a cake, cupcakes, banana bread, or some other sort of baked thing or you can ask for normal food if you want. This trade worked out very well this past Detour. Spent 10 hours baking, but I feel that that kind of work and time is what the cards are worth rather than money (even if I had money, I would feel the same). Don’t ask/reblog saying how stupid I am for asking. After all, I am ONLY asking, not demanding, not begging.  If you think I have high expectations, keep it to yourself. I only have high hopes and faith that I can collect these all between the internet, Detour, and the card shop. Some of these I do have, but I have the newer versions or the e-reader versions. If you have an older one, I would be willing to trade. I feel like using all of the same-aged cards would make it look better.

I don’t know what to do for my hair with my Pokémon dress. Any ideas (if anyone even looks at my blog aside from my photoset)?

:3 We just need to duct tape the back so my butt isn’t showing, and get shoes, and I’m going to make dangly earrings with the badges on them.

I am excited for this year because of reasons.

A) I have someone helping me out and keeping me relatively calm this time

B) I did a commission and it turned out well. The buyer is happy with it and it means I will have money for the convention.

C) Some awesome person bought wigs for me and all I have to do is make her some banana/Oreo bread.

D) My Pokemon Card dress will actually be finished, and I am entering it in the competition. I am making a purse out of energy cards to go with it.

E) Most importantly, most (just one didn’t go so well) of my costumes are going really well. I have materials thanks to leftovers, my grandma, and the person mentioned in “A.” 

Really the only thing that I could ask for is a camera to use. Just because one time, maybe 5 years ago, someone swiped mine at the 4th of July parade, my mom now hands down all of her cameras to my little sister who doesn’t need one. She says “well don’t you have that old one?” Yes, yes I do. And my phone has better quality than it does because the camera is so old. i have my film camera, but that isn’t nearly as convenient and I will only use it for the best cosplays I see.
